“A wedding resonates as the ultimate special occasion”- Giorgio Armani.
Part 2 of our guide to planning your A to Z of wedding continues, this week’s blog is all about the bride & the bridal party!
be – organised, be flexible, be realistic, be happy, just be!
bride – yes, that’s you, remember to have fun planning your wedding (trust me the time flies by)!! Relax well, sleep well, eat well, drink (water)well, detox well, be well!
bridal party – consist of the bride, bridesmaids, flower girls, chief bridesmaid.
bridesmaids – choose wisely (it’s crucial). Outline their responsibilities. They are your helpers in the run-up to the wedding and on the day itself, treat them well. Appreciate their love and time for you. The cost of your bridesmaids outfit is a very delicate discussion which should be addressed early. (In my experience as a wedding planner, yes, you have to pay for their outfits unless you’ve got generous bridesmaids). A thank you gift for each of your bridal party would also be appreciated!!
chief bridesmaid or maid of honour – ideally Your chief bridesmaid should be someone who knows you well, reliable, trustworthy, calm and organised. A Chief bridesmaid responsibilities are help in wedding planning, bridal shower, helping you get dressed on the day, keeping you calm, looking after your needs (the bride) on the wedding day (basically your pa on the actual day), interacting with the best man for any unexpected issues on the day.
beauty treatment – from a trip to the hairdresser to an indulgent spa treatment, prepare yourself. The run-up to your wedding can be stressful and upsetting, start your beauty treatment 3 months before your wedding to revive, rejuvenate, relax & renew. Achieving a perfect you, ready for your wedding day!
bouquet – oversized, bejeweled, elongated, structured, bold, classic. With the varieties of flowers available, there are just a few types of bouquet. Your bouquet should compliment your gown and your proportion, example if you’re petite chose a small hand-tied bouquet or a compact tear drop. A simple bouquet will flatter an intricate lace or beading and verse versa. Consider the overall image you want to portray, the star of the show is you in your dress.
Bruce Oldfield – british wedding couturier Bruce Oldfield aim is to flatter with structure and reflect the bride’s personality with elegant clothes, mixing tradition and sophistication with a fresh, modern twist.
bridal shower (hen party) – The party is usually organised by the chief bridesmaid or a very close friends of the bride, with help from the bridesmaids. The bride should give a few hints & ideas about what she’d like from the shower and supply a list of her friends details. Relax and fun!!
book – it takes a great deal of effort from a great many people to plan the perfect wedding day. Behind every smooth, elegant presentation is an army of wedding workers whose passion and know-how ensures you get married without a hitch. Florist, photographers, caterers, wedding planner, entertainer, hairstylist, make-up artist etc book these people who can make your event fabulous as soon as possible (between 3-12 months notice)
