It was only a month ago the mother and daughter design team Gisella and Jan Asante celebrated their 20 years in design with their ‘RETROSPECTIVE’ Exhibition at Royal Society Of Arts and open-house celebrations at their South London boutique, so it was a shock to log on to Facebook and see the aftermath of the mindless mob cruelty their fab work fell victim to during the London riots.
Gisella Boutique’s Facebook status today reads:
GISELLA BOUTIQUE WAS SMASHED & GUTTED BY YOUTH VANDALS & THIEVES LAST NIGHT. THIS IS THE SADDEST DAY WE HAVE EVER KNOWN IN 20 YEARS. WE ARE APPEALING TO YOU ALL FOR SUPPORT. PLEASE BE VIGILANT. THE WORK YOU SEE IN OUR GALLERIES HAS BEEN STOLEN. PLEASE REPOST OUR IMAGES & HELP US NAME & SHAME THESE PERPETRATORS TERRORISING OUR COMMUNITIES. THANKYOU TO THE ANGELS WHO HELPED US & CRIED WITH US OUTSIDE THE WRECKAGE OF OUR SHOP TODAY. YOU ALONE GIVE US HOPE.
As FAB, we wish Gisella and Jan strength at this difficult time and hope these atrocities wrecking communities and endangering life, property and livelihood across the nation will be over soon.
