Oprah Winfrey, the richest African American of the 20th Century, the host who has had Presidents, a-listers and royalty shed  a tear on her shoulder, the award winning actress, philantropist, producer, director, giver.. great human being, has – after 25 years – put the couch away as she has finally called time on her self-titled, multi-award winning talkshow.

Embarking on its journey on September 8, 1986, the Oprah Winfrey show has already passed through 25 seasons and as many as 3,724 episodes. In the long course of the show, viewers have witnessed the interviews of a number of great personalities by show host Oprah. Some famous names among these personalities include Elizabeth Taylor, Tom Cruise, Simon Cowell, the Obamas, Mackenzie Phillips, to name a few.

Winfrey was born into poverty in rural Mississippi to a teenage single mother and later raised in an inner-city Milwaukee neighborhood. She experienced considerable hardship during her childhood, claiming to be raped at age nine and becoming pregnant at 14; her son died in infancy.

Oprah Winfrey has given black women across the globe hope and has been credited with creating a more intimate confessional form of media communication.

Her finale show was graced by the creme de la creme of celebrities in Hollywood including Madonna, Beyonce, Tom Hanks, Will Smith and Michael Jordan.
