“The nomination already made my year, not winning won’t spoil it” said the Fela protege and legendary singer, Femi Kuti who lost out at the Grammy awards for the fourth time.
Femi Kuti was nominated for the ‘World Music’ category the fourth time, for his album, No Place For My Dream alongside three other acts, Savour Flamenco by Gipsy Kings, Live:Singing For Peace around The World by Ladysmith Black Mambazo and The Living Room Sessions Part2 by Ravi Shankar. He lost the award to the winners, Gipsy Kings and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
‘If i win, let them bring it here’ Femi said, after his loss in 2011, he vowed never to attend the any Grammy award ceremony. The Afrobeat singer had predicted his loss earlier, in an interview with Ecomium weekly, he simply stated, “I would be shocked if i win.” He refused to attend the ceremony this year. Femi was represented by older sister, Yeni Kuti at the Grammys.
