New York Fashion Week: BCBG Max Azria Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 Ready-to-Wear

According to BCBG Max Azria, colour-blocking via minimalistic geometric patterns is the way forward Autumn 2012 if their Autumn/Winter 2012-2013 collection is anything to go by – but a different sort of colour blocking. Forget the separates in bright colours; this is all about a riot of subtle autumnal shades of oranges, mustards, royal blues, jade greens on one garment with a touch of white here and there.

While midi-length paneled and colour-blocked dresses (Think waisted, pleated and shift) were the order of the day, it was the belted trenches with fur and leather sleeves that really stole the show. The rugged feel of leather and suede – also used in the accessories – played well with the otherwise feminine silhouttes created by softer chiffon, silk and georgette while fox gilet added a touch of Siberian glam.
