It is not often you seen Vogue go gaga over African fashion and when they do, it is for a stylish duo well worth it: British-Nigerian label, Bëlë. The 23-year-old British-Nigerian designer Ebele Ojechi, who recently graduated from the London College of Fashion, and her identical twin sister, Chiamaka showcased the label’s debut collection in London on 17 September and they are already on fashionistas’ radar with their cool, quirky street style.

Entitled ‘Area Boys’ their collection embodies the street spirit with text message abbreviations on retro flip-phone prints such as BRB or G2G, recycled fabrics, vintage kaftan shapes inspired by the ’70s and ’80s Nigerian style, sporty silhouettes and contemporary prints cleverly made to look like traditional African print.
This past weekend was AMAZING! Ebs presented her debut collection, AREA BOYS, and it was a huge success. Thanks to everyone that supported and showed love. Looking forward to bigger and better things. God is good 🌴🇳🇬 #BËLË #AREABOYS #paq
The twins clearly have an eye for style evident in their Instagram feeds and if this debut collection is anything to go by, we have fresh Nigerian talent ready to shake up the fashion world.
had a fab time celebrating our 23rd birthday this weekend! Grateful to God for another year and blessed to have loving, amazing people around us. 💟🎎🌴 shot by @4stories_hi_in_brixton
