The Design Museum, London has announced that it is to host Christian Louboutin’s first ever UK retrospective exhibition next year, as part of the footwear designer’s 20th anniversary of the opening of his first store in Paris in 1992.
The show will takes place from March 28-July 1 2012, and will explore Christian Louboutin’s 20 years in the shoe industry and how the designer has transformed the design of the shoe.
The exhibition will profile Louboutin’s creative approach, together with the influences behind his work ranging from the Parisian music hall, travel, art, landscape architecture and film. A special focus will also be given to the origins of Louboutin’s trademark glossy red soles, which recently hit headlines as the designer lost a trademark case against Yves Saint Laurent.
The news coincides with the launch of Christian Louboutin’s debut self-titled book, which features an intricate five-piece foldout binding and pop-up cover, as well as photography captured by Philippe Garcia.complete catalogue of his work, with photos.
