Get ready as Kinabuti reveals its stunning ‘Vlisco Khan’ collection. Already spotted on some personalities such as Vixen, Helen Bushfire, Toke Makinwa, amongst others, the ‘Vlisco Khan’ collection boasts of a being a 37-piece lookbook, comprising of 18pieces for men and 19 pieces for women was shot in the communities of Orile, Makoko and Apapa, where the Kinabuti fashion initiative presently runs some of its empowerment projects.
The shoot had contestants from the recently concluded inspirational projection Dare2Dream project, the platform in which aspiring models from all over the country the opportunity to achieve their dreams, serve as models and the behind the scenes filmed by the students from its creative incubator project.
With this collection, the designer Caterina Bortolussi is inspired by the biography of the great Genghis Khan and his rise to power. Whilst taking us through the Mongolia of the 11th century, evoking visual thoughts of the valleys of the country, describing the values of good leadership, clan belonging, humility and faith.
Kinabuti fuses a combination of Vlisco high quality African Prints and the prestigious, elegant and refined Loro Piana fabrics, alongside Mongolian cashmere fabric to create this exquisite statement collection. Also featured in this chic collection are pieces using intricate lace, crochet, and leather fabrics with comprehensive layering, cut outs, patchwork and asymmetrical details.by
