- Antonio Berardi
Part 5 of our guide to planning your A to Z of wedding continues….
dress – the most important thing for a woman is her dress and should choose a gown that reflects who she is – about self-expression. Choose a designer you can identify with so that your personal style comes through. Advice to all brides shopping for The Wedding dress, go shopping with a couple of people you really, really trust and not your entire entourage. * Caution, the weather is a factor when choosing your dress, so chose carefully to match the season.
don’t – borrow money from the bank, don’t put your money on credit cards(unless you’re paying the balance in 30 days), don’t budget for fewer guests than you invited, better to over than under-estimate, don’t be tempted to upgrade (first ask how much?), don’t overspend in certain area of your budget breakdown ( see budget breakdown in previous blog letter b) unless you can cut back that amount in other areas, don’t make decisions too quick( there are often many less expensive and better options than the first thing you saw), don’t be afraid to speak up, if you’re not happy with a service or tasting or style insist on better, don’t sweat the small stuff – have FUN, don’t get so wrapped up in planning you both neglect each other, don’t aim for perfection, what’s perfect today might not be ideal tomorrow, don’t forget the legalities ie registrar’s certificate, birth certificate, decree absolute etc, don’t feel you have to conform to expectation – be exceptional it’s your wedding!
date – choosing a date for your wedding can be stressful as so many issues need to be factored in, taking into account all the key players, parents, close friends etc, holiday season, bank holidays, football season, is someone close to you getting married, annual celebration etc. Double check proposed date with your family asap before booking anything!
designer wedding show – the shortcut to wedding planning at Battersea park, London (Feb & Oct) with exhibits from fashion to flowers and cakes to photographers etc. A must for brides & grooms for inspiration!
dessert – serve your wedding cake as dessert or have a dessert bar etc.
dress code (guest) – if how your guests are dressed is important to you both, perhaps suggest a dress code in the invitation examples – black tie, fancy dress, jeans only etc.
diy – if you’re on a budget or a creative bride or groom, you can create everything from invitation to the tablecentre!
dance – perfect expression for the infectious mood of a perfect wedding. Select a musical repertoire that would have your guest dancing the night away and soon not be forgotten. Vast selection of specialty live entertainment, big-band, stylish dance bands, versatile cocktail combos, jazz etc. Enjoy!
designate – a wedding is undoubtedly one of the most stressful planning experience, learn to delegate tasks to your bridesmaids, bestman & your parents, they are there to help. Don’t try to do it all!
