February 14, 2013 will see Michelle Bello’s Flower Girl released in Nigerian cinemas. The filmmaker, Producer/Director Bello is best known for her award winning film Small Boy honoured at the African Movie Academy Awards, AMAA.

Flower Girl is the rom-com of the season about the life of a shy florist named Kemi who desperately wants to get married to her long-time boyfriend, Umar. However, Umar suddenly breaks up with her, and breaks her heart too. In a desperate bid to get him back, Kemi teams up with a most unlikely ally, Tunde Kulani, a famous playboy Nollywood star.

The movie addresses the issue of young women who are in a hurry to get married thinking only about their prefect wedding day and not the long-term commitment required by both individuals to make it last.

Bello does a good job with her story line as well as her pick for the casts. They include Damilola Adegbite, (formerly in Tinsel), Chris Attoh (Tinsel), Eku Edewor (53 Extra), Bikiya Graham Douglas and Chuks Chukwujekwu, starring for the first time as a male lead. Also starring in the film are famous actors Patrick Doyle, Teni Aofiyebi and Tosan Edremoda-Ugbeye.

In most of these Afrikan Movies, the women are at the centre of the Universe! The men are clueless and is everywhere else where they are not suppose to be!

Quite interesting… Are we Afrikans moving away from our traditions and is adopting the infadel culture?
