Steve Harvey’s Act Like A Lady Think Like A Man aims to give women a wider insight into the way men view relationships. The book makes it easier for women to achieve their goals and dreams, and reveal to them if the guy they are with, is really there for the long run, or just in passing.
The book is split into 16 chapters the first 8 breaking down the mind of a man and the next 7 tell you about the different men you may meet, different scenarious, advice on how to achieve your goals, and the kind of woman you need to be, in order to do this.
Ultimately we are led to understand that men don’t love like women do; the way we love is more intricate and the way a man loves is more simple, but founded on important principles, that wont be compromised. Furthermore a man has needs (support, loyalty and the cookie) , and as a woman if you aren’t providing that, then don’t be surprised if he finds it elsewhere.
Although the book may be more relevant for women in pursuit of a husband, as a young adult I believe young women can really benefit from this book. It may give you the answers to questions you’ve always wanted to know, or prevent you from repeating the same mistakes twice.
As women the way we love may lead us to compromise or settle, when in reality there are more reasonable ways to get what you want or desire, without compromising or settling. There is nothing wrong with having standards or firm principles, in fact a man will respect you more for that.
The book can be purchased in most major bookstores, and can be purchased as an online book at a the great price of £4.99.
For those who rather watch a film interpretation, the book has recently been adapted this year into a romantic comedy. It stars comedian Kevin Hart, Taraji P. Henson, Regina Hall, Meagan Good, Michael Ealy, Jerry Ferrara (Entourage), Terrence Jenkins (B.E.T 106 & Park) and many more.
