The ‘Half Of A Yellow Sun’ Lagos movie Premiere was the highlight of the weekend with a number of socialites and movie stars being present at the event location at Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island Lagos. Spotted at the event were celebrities such as Genevieve Nnaji, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Onyeka Onwenu, Chimamanda Adichie and many more. It truly was a spectacular event.
The red carpet was something to look out for and our Nollywood stars did not disappoint. We have put together 7 of our best looks for the night and they include Biola Alabi, Bolanle Olukanni, Genevieve Nnaji, Onyeka Onwenu, Chimamanda Adichie, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Naya Amobi. Which of these looks gets your vote as the very best dressed?
Biola Alabi, former Mnet Africa Managing Director was regal and simple in a black plunging neckline jumpsuit. Adding a pop of colour to her outfit, Biola went with silver peeptoe pumps and a blue clutch.
Bolanle Olukanni is a co-host on ‘Moments With Mo’ for EbonyLife TV and once again we especially love the pop of colour used here – yellow on the red carpet. We also love that it isn’t just a plain midi yellow skirt she went for but chose a bit of fun by opting for a textured skirt.
Chiwetel Ejiofor was practically the star of the night because of his arrival in Nigeria specially for this movie premiere and promotion. Chiwetel always aces the red carpet and it was nice to see him keep to his natural look of class and style.
Genevieve Nnaji, naturally, was gorgeous in a print pant suit by Nigerian fashion brand Jewel By Lisa’s diffusion label “J Brand”. The Nollywood star also went with a pair of turquoise print pumps to complement her outfit.
Naya Amobi went with an elegant look for the night opting for a floor length blue dress detailed with subtle ruffles at the hem and on the shoulder. The drape detail at the knee-length of the dress is breathtakingly gorgeous and we love this look for the night.
Onyeka Onwenu was a refreshing look for the movie premiere because the Nollywood Veteran still had a classic and regal look for the night even though she was among the young and the “hip”. Her embellished orange blouse and skirt was the perfect choice.
Author Chimamanda Adichie, with whom this movie would not have been possible, also made a statement in her red and white off-handed floor-length dress. We can see a peek of her shoes and don’t think we love it (because of the shape) but everything else works with this look.
