Lebanon were hugely popular in Nigeria last year, as a packed Eko Atlantic witnessed the Cedars of Lebanon shock the Beach Soccer community by finishing above 6 times European champions Portugal to claim the runners up trophy. Lebanon edged Portugal in a 9-goal thriller coming out as 5-4 winners at Copa Lagos 2012. Defending Champions Nigeria only narrowly overcame Lebanon at last year’s Copa Lagos, in what many described as the match of the tournament; Nigeria beat Lebanon 7-6 thanks to a last gasp Tale penalty.

Commenting on Lebanon’s inclusion for Copa Lagos 2013 Kinetic Sports Media Officer, Steven Apampa had this to say:

We had to invite Lebanon back! The crowd loved watching them play, they are a very exciting team, and their matches produce goals galore. Lebanon narrowly missed out on becoming the 1st team other than Nigeria to win Copa Lagos, I am sure they will want to settle that old score! We have had a lot of messages from our fans asking for Lebanon, so we have delivered on our promise to our fans. We look forward to Nigeria v Lebanon the rematch”
