The video that started out as Google’s April Fools Day Prank last week has gone so viral beating Pharrel William’s ‘Happy’ song as at the time of its release. The Google Maps team released this faux-teaser for an amazing augmented reality Pokemon game that will never exist.

The “Google Maps: Pokémon Challenge” video currently has more than 480,000 shares since its March 31 release and over 13.9 million views.

The video is a spoof recruiting footage to introduce an actual Pokémon Challenge game created by Google where players were tasked with locating Pokémon characters using Google Maps on an iPhone or Android device. Can you believe that?

The video includes a cameo from Google Maps Vice President  Brian McClendon who makes it look real stating: “We’ve prepared the most vigorous test known to man to find the world’s best Pokémon Master.”

Google went particularly deep to  actually build out a proper Pokemon collection game that is absolutely mind-blowing.

This has to be the best April Fools Day game pf all time and we wonder how many folks may have believed this prank by thinking they can capture a Pokemon character created by Google .
