Remember the pre-Blue Ivy media offensive from Beyoncé which saw her on countless magazine covers,TV shows and on the Pyramid Stage in Glastonbury? Queen B, post-Blue Ivy, seems to have kicked off a whole new media offensive these days. First comes the news Bey will be performing at The Super Bowl, then the bootylicious GQ cover, and now the news that the sexy singer will be performing the National Anthem at President Obama’s Inauguration later this month.
Given Mr. and Mrs. Carter have long been supporters of President Obama, it only seems fitting that the 31-year-old singer will be performing for the President for the second time on 21 January. Beyoncé performed at President Obama’s first Inauguration back in 2009, where she sang the Etta James classic “At Last,” to which President Obama and his wife Michelle Obama had their first dance.
According to the Daily Mail, other performers will include Kelly Clarksonwho will sing “My Country, ‘Tis Of Thee” and James Taylor who will perform “America The Beautiful”.
President Obama, 51, expressed his delight in a statement saying, “Vice President [Joe] Biden and I are honored to have these wonderfully talented musical artists perform at the Inaugural ceremony. Their music is often at the heart of the American story and speaks to folks across the country.”
We cannot think of a better voice to do American national anthem justice. Can you?
