The concept of the collection stems from Mina, the head designer’s fascination with the curves of an image of stacked beach chairs on a deserted beach whilst researching. This image immediately played upon her idea to recreate the curves with fabric. The result thereof became the main feature on this collection: twisted pleats.
With this collection, we play with some of this season’s dominant colours; mint, greens, purples, teal, beige and white to reveal well cut, flattering skirt suits, classic dresses and separates. Also used is the Mina Evans custom tie dye, in different colourways; a textile the brand has been known to use since its Terra Firma collection. Other fabrics in the collection include silks, chiffons and organzas.
The collection was shot on location in the woods of Akosombo, located in the Eastern Region of Ghana. We attempted to mimic the eerie, deserted ambiance of the inspiration image as well as portray the angst of the ‘twisted’ side of romance.
“I absolutely loved the whole process of putting this collection together: the fabric manipulation to create curved pleats, the location, coupled with excellent photography and styling enabled the collection to come to life.” says Mina Evans-Anfom.
