Meet Pooja Jeshang is an upcoming talented fashion designer who graduated from Birmingham City University in England last year and her brand new resort collection ‘Delilah’.
If the discovery of chameleon inspired colors, electric pinks, bottle green and orange soda positioned Pooja Jeshang outside her comfort zone, her new resort range found her returning to what she does best: crafting silhouettes, simple but yet seductive, as defined by the name “Delilah”.
Although Pooja’s best innovation would have been her materials, following the trend from her last collection using 100% organic printed cottons. The bottle green jumpsuit with the floral wax print, a true Nigerian ankara fabric was inspired by the ’80s wide legged bottoms, alongside leaving it strapless to enhance the femininity of a woman, leaving it tempting and seductive enough – one of the winners in the collection, it radiated glamour, sophistication, and totally in the comfort zone just what you would want to lounge out in.
Pooja Jeshang is currently a freelance designer who takes her inspiration from a range of sources in her everyday life whilst also being inspired by culture and society across the globe. She currently has two collections in her portfolio, the first Military Power which she worked on in her final year at university and the second Jambo Afrika which she launched with her label Saffron at Swahili Fashion Week 2011. She also works on creating digital illustrations, and also textile prints using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
