I caught up with Eyo at his video shoot for an exclusive one on one interview-
It’s your video shoot today- “your debut” how is this like for you?
I feel great, doing this for the first time, at first you get really scared,I have done a couple of shots already and it went well, so am feeling good!, response from everyone that has come around, am just feeling good.
You went into the Project Fame academy as a rapper and came out a soul singer, how did the transformation happen?
Well, metamorphosis change is the only thing constant in life, i went into the academy as a rapper, yes! and I came out a singer, in the academy, I learnt how to put my versatility to use, I learnt to sing, not just how to sing, but how to also sing well, learning to sing and still rap, is a proof of what the academy did for me and what I was ready to learn, there are a whole lot of artists who are singers and they rap also, It has become a full package for me, I now sing and I still rap. In future tracks, I will be doing rap too. Music is not just singing, there is rap too, and I do music.
Music for you, how did it all start, did you know you were born to
do music or it just happened at some point?
I have been doing music since i was a kid,I was in the choir in my church. My dad was a solider working under the then head of state General Mohammed Buhari, so he was transferred to Lagos and I joined the choir in our new church, everywhere I went I was always in the choir. I was a member of the Spirit Of David(SOD) Gospel Dance Group, also was the pioneer of an acapella group-‘Yahweh Klan’ I was always doing things that had to do with the theater, drama, music, dance though I read political science, but I wish I read creative/theater arts because that’s what I love to do.
You read Political science?
Yes, I had a second class upper. I hope to use it soon, am making use of it already though, politics is not just the voting game, politics is everywhere now, trying to convince people to like what you do, listen to your song(s), buy your album, it’s politics too (laughs)
Do you plan on making use of the certificate any soon?
I hope to use it soon, am making use of it already though, politics is not just the voting game, politics is everywhere now, trying to convince people to like what you do, listen to your song(s), buy your album, it’s politics too (laughs)
What is your unique selling point?
My voice, looks and swags.
How has life been with you since Project fame?
*sighs* winning the price, the fame, those were attachments, the reality show started after the I left Project Fame, having to meet people, build a relationship with the people that were in the industry before you, the hustle, those are the reality show.
Dipp, maytronomy, Yetunde and everyone is on my video today, not because it’s Eyo of project fame, but because i have built a good relationship with them ever since I came out of the academy.
I have collaborations I want to do with a lot of other artists, (upcoming and established) and am trying to reach out to them. But so far so good, we are getting there.
Any difference(s) between the Eyo Eminue before PF and the Eyo after? I mean this one here?
Definitely yes, when I went into project fame, I could sing, but when I got into the academy, i learnt how to sing, and how not to sing and now I do it on a professional basis. I know things to do and things not to do in music, I have learnt breath-control, I have learnt a whole lot of things.
