Another college offering a course on a trending pop diva!

Following Rutgers University offering a class on Beyonce Knowles-Carter to its students, Skidmore College has taken the same steps and is now offering a summer course on the one and only trouble-making Miley Cyrus.

The class and course titled “The Sociology of Miley Cyrus: Race, Class, Gender, and Media” will be taught by Carolyn Chernoff, a visiting assistant professor of sociology. This report seems authentic enough as the course is listed on the faculty page for visiting professor Carolyn Chernoff.

• The rise of the Disney Princess
• Gender stratification and the hyper-commodification of childhood
• Transitions to adulthood
• What happens to Disney stars as they age (see Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and more)
• Allies and appropriation
• Uses of culture across race, class, and gender
• Bisexuality, queerness, and the female body

Seems like there will be a lot to learn about Miley Cyrus as we have seen her extreme transformations over the years. We can only imagine what Miley’s reaction will be like to this information!
