Make sure you are at the Southbank Centre on Saturday, 21 July 2012 as the best in Afrobeats comes to the venue for one night only as part of Southbank Centre’s Africa Utopia Festival.

Afrobeats reworks the well-known sound of Fela Kuti, creating a modern new style that nods towards hip hop, funky house, dancehall and pop. The genre is more popular than ever in the UK, with Nigerian artist D’Banj storming the UK Top 10 with his smash hit ‘Oliver Twist, and the music added to playlists across the country.

The Ultimate Afrobeats Utopia will provide Afrobeats fans a chance to experience this scene via some of its leaders, including BBC Radio 1/1Xtra’s DJ Edu, award-winning DJ Neptizzle and Afro House specialist Sef Kombo. Be prepared for the hottest in Naija Pop, Azonto Rhythms, Kuduro and Kizomba plus special guests to be announced.
