The second day of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Cape Town kicked off with a presentation of new designers by the Cape Town Fashion Council.

“Icons in the Making” are part of an association between AFI, the CTFC and fashion schools.

The five emerging designers invited to exhibit were Pumeza Mekuto of Black Coal Clothing, Celeste Lee Arendse of Selfi, Robyn Victor of August Clothing, Terien Malherbe of Non-European and Maloti Mothoni of Strato.

Colour blocking in primary colours and denim were the order of the day at the Black Coal show while Selfi played around with loose drapery and sheer fabrics and Strato with functional sports wear. August served an array of playful prints and Non-European presented a collection of functional pieces.
