These days everyone loves a good reality show, and us fashionista’s always like to get an insight into the world of design and find out what really goes on behind the scenes, and so Mission Catwalk, a Caribbean Fashion Reality show was born. The show is in it’s second second and has been hugely popular in the Caribbean and worldwide, so this is just for those of you who don’t know, to introduce you to the wonderful world of Mission Catwalk.

The Caribbean has a wealth of talent; however, a lack of educational foundation and industry know-how has resulted in limited international success of our local designers. KTL group, along with lead sponsors Supreme Ventures Limited, National Commercial Bank of Jamaica and Digicel, have joined forces to promote local fashion designers and invest in the growth of the local fashion industry.

Mission Catwalk is an exciting reality TV series aimed at discovering and developing talented local fashion designers for the international market. This production highlights the wealth of creativity in Jamaica and nurtures the talents of the contestants through numerous challenges and exercises geared at identifying and honing a range of creative skills and abilities.

The series is set at the Singer Sewing Room at the Courtleigh Auditorium and each episode comprises of four segments: the challenge, design production, a runway show, and the elimination of a designer. The show will last 13 weeks with one contestant being eliminated each week by a panel of judges. The series will culminate with two designers battling in Miami for the ultimate title of top designer at London Fashion week. In addition to local and international exposure, the winner of the competition will receive the following prizes:

1. An opportunity to show a collection at London International Fashion Week 2012.
2. JMD$500,000.00 funding to produce their own clothing line.
3. A 6-page fashion spread in OCEAN Style Caribbean Magazine.
4. Contract to sell designs at SOHO Boutique.
5. Buyers meeting with local and international buyers.
6. Scholarship for further studies in fashion at London College of Fashion.
7. Industrial equipment valued at JMD$200,000.00 to set up a production studio.
8. Internship with an international design house.

The Panel are absolute experts in their field. The Host and Exec Producer is noted fashion designer Keneea Linton-George and the Main Judges are Novia McDonald-Whyte the lifestyle editor of the Jamaica Observer and international menswear designer Carlton Brown.

Guest Judges include: Sonia Noel  – CEO of Guyana Fashion Week, Nadia Khan – Actress, Barry Moncrieffe – Designer, Marcellas James -Milliner, Lady Saw – Singer, Dr. Sharlene Jarrett – Ministry of Health (Jamaica), Dexter Pottinger – Designer/Celebrity Stylist, Thalia Lyn – Entrepreneur, Michele Coulton – of SOHO Boutique, Meiling Esau – Designer, Claudia Pegus – Designer.

The Contestants come from a range of Caribbean Islands: Kesia Estwick (Barbados), Janelle Forde (Barbados/Trinidad), Ryan Chan (Trinidad), Ryan Berkely (Guyana), Rebecca Stirm (Belize), Shannon Kwong (Trinidad), Shellane McFarlane (Jamaica), Kerin Scott (Barbados), Gregory Williams (Jamaica), Crystal Powell (Jamaica), Kimbally Smith (Jamaica), Janelle Jolly (Jamaica), Keshon Hawthorne (Jamaica), Natalie Rochester (Jamaica), Maria King-Beadle (Jamaica)
