The collaboration is going to be for a remake of the J.M Weston brand’s three classic footwear styles. Charlie re-designed the shoes, creatively adding British elements to each pair.

The first is the outdoorsy take on the 180 loafer, to which Casely-Hayford has applied a quilted effect, stitched black and blue calfskin – inspired by padded shooting jackets worn in the British countryside.

The second is the 588 double sole Derby which not only has the sporty influence once again but also puts Casely-Hayford’s tailoring background in the spotlight by being cut from soft kid leather and covered in either black and white or black-only Prince of Wales check material.

For the third the designer remakes the height-boosting 590 triple sole Derby for which he has used the same Prince of Wales materials as before, but added in a metallic calfskin edging.

The shoes will retail from £490 and the collection will launch at J.M. Weston stores in London, Paris and Tokyo next month. Casely-Hayford and Michel Perry, Weston’s artistic director, first met two years ago at a dinner in London, and the idea for a collaboration was born soon after that.

Michel Perry states, “I was seduced by Charlie’s approach to his collections, a blend of chic and tailored style, all with the impertinence of Shoreditch. That mix is all very close to the vision of J.M. Weston.” Charlie adds that he is interested in fusing “different worlds of rebellion” for the J.M. Weston collaboration.
