MTN Lagos Fashion Week is in full swing so we thought we would give you a little snippet of what is to come as the week unfolds. We asked a bunch of  designers to send us a few images and/or sketches  talking us though what inspired their up and coming collection.

The first designer is British trained designer Gozi who talks about her past two collections, as well as her coming collection which will be show during Lagos Fashion Week:

My collections are an interpretation of the world around me. I am influenced by art, in particular cubism, and architecture. I incorporate elements of various art themes into my design lines, fabric and colour choices, ensuring the collection still retains what my brand has come to be known for – sharp contemporary tailoring and clever use of colors. – Gozi

Repatriation was inspired by Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.

The Dandy collection takes inspiration from David Hockney’s composite Polaroids.

It goes on sale at the U.Mi-1 Pop-up boutique at the Radisson Blu Hotel from 31st October- 12th November 2011. Gozi hopes to bring a new shopping experience to Lagos with her boutique installation.

The U.Mi-1 SS2012 collection will be unveiled at MTN Lagos Fashion Week on 29th October. This season shows more of the cubist influence, provided again by Picasso’s The Three Musicians, and its signature use of contrasting colours and textures. Prince of Wales check serves as the backdrop to rich blue and khaki brown cotton, creating depth in the tailored trousers and jackets. Expect to see an enthralling presentation.
