Finally here is the Mulberry surprise which wasn’t much of a surprise. After teasing us for a whole week on social media along with co-conspirator Cara Delevingne with the #SeeYouonSunday hashtag, Mulberry has unveiled a new bag range that is not only named for the British supermodel, but was also designed by her.
Cara, clad in a floaty white dress, showcased each design as she walked around the magical makeshift woodland barefoot. She was later joined by two male male models who were both holding onto a pack of dogs.
Following in the footsteps of another British fashion darling Alexa Chung with her super successful “Alexa” bag for Mulberry, Cara has designed what has been billed as a three-in-one: It can be worn as a backpack, over the shoulder or handheld. It comes in a variety of sizes, fabrics and colorways, including camo hair calf, black quilted leather and “silky” taupe leather.
Speaking about the designs, the model revealed: “I want there to be hidden gems inside, based on things that are personal to me, which my tattoos definitely are.”
And things personal to the model are clearly evident: One limited-edition version features lion rivets inspired by her infamous finger tattoo, and a heart patch inside, inspired by another of her tattoos.
A press release about the exciting collaboration read: “Mulberry is delighted to announce a creative collaboration with Cara Delevingne, an iconic British model, up and coming actress and music maker. Cara is internationally renowned for her unique style.
“She is much loved for her quirky spirit and ‘joie de vivre’ and is a leading light of the fashion and entertainment worlds.
“To Mulberry she epitomises the brand values of British heritage combined with London cool. Cara and Mulberry have worked together to create a collection of bags.”
Prices of the new range, Mulberry’s first celebrity collaboration since it teamed up with U.S. singer Lana Del Rey in May 2012, will start at 890 pounds ($1,500) and go up to 2,500 pounds, the firm said.
