Quirky model and winner of Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model 2011, Jade Thompson, is front Miss Selfridge’s Christmas campaign.
Jade previously spoke of how she was once taunted for her “bright orange hair and gawky looks”, but the good-looking model is now having the last laugh as she is hailed as a flame-haired beauty.
Images of Jade will be strewn across the UK high street on billboards and shop windows at more than 180 stores as she models everything from sequined dresses to vintage inspired gowns. Smouldering in smoky eyes and deep plum lipstick, the model star sports quiffed hair and a knowing look of comfortable confidence.
Coming through a 13 week stint on the BINTM show, Jade beat 13 other aspiring models and was crowned as the winner. The Stoke on Trent model said: “I’m over the moon. I looked unusual, I was skinny. Everybody teased me. My hair was much redder then than it is now – it was bright orange. I never thought I would win.”
Miss Selfridge was one of the first retailers to use supermodel Kate Moss in their campaigns and as Jade follows in her footsteps, big things are expected. Her ultimate inspiration is Dutch mode, Lara Stone, who has worked for top labels herself such as Giles Deacon and Christopher Kane. If Jade can follow in Stone’s footsteps, she could find herself sitting pretty on earnings at an estimated £2.8million.
Jade said: “The way I see it, there are other models at the moment who have curves, like Lara Stone and Tyra Banks. Ultimately, I’d love to model for Victoria’s Secret.”
