The multi-talented singer, songwriter and actress May7ven brings FAB readers an exclusive insight into her busy schedule as a judge on Malta Guinness Street Dance Africa 2011…
So Auditions are over and we have seen the beautiful cities of Enugu, Abuja, Benin and Lagos in search of potentially the best dance crew in Nigeria to represent us at the pan African championships. The journey has been life changing for me as a new judge experiencing both sides of the fence. At this stage I believe we have 2 very strong hopefuls who are more than capable of representing Nigeria not just in Africa but throughout the world.
So today I got woken up by the make up artist at 8:30am same time breakfast arrives. I am usually the 1st in makeup as mine takes the longest and I am still nursing the wound from my car accident. This show is about being yourself totally, not scripted, no spoon feeding just 100% you so I insisted on styling myself throughout the show from start to finish. I only ever decide what I am going to wear until I am about to leave the room hence why I bring everything in 3 to 4 suitcases. The auditions were laid back for us judges so our clothing needed to reflect just that but you know me…no matter how casual the outfit I put on by the time I add my accessories everything changes and looks OTT, i did however try to keep it simple but complementing.
For todays studio show, i am wearing a special outfit i had made and designed in the UK by RK Designer Eunice. We work on everything together from my stage outfits.
By the time I get to set, AGAIN the director of the show said:”May your bangles are making noise so you need to take a few off or try not to move.” Mmmmm 2 of the hardest things for me to do. I decided to remove a few as not moving is like asking me not to breath. Lol.
Filming commences with Wale and Frank looking as dapper as ever, me dancing to my own track “Hands Up” for my entrance. It was awesome
