Miss Universe and Miss Angola, Leila Lopes is set to storm Ghana on Saturday June 9, 2012 for a four day visit. This is part of her five-nation West African tour which includes Ghana, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Togo and Nigeria. The Insignia Group, producers of the Miss Universe Ghana competition in partnership with Roberta Annan Consulting are putting this together.
The visit marks the first ever entry of a reigning Miss Universe to Ghana. This is also the first time in 12 years that an African woman has held the title of Miss Universe and the last titleholder was Mpule Kwelagobe, Miss Botswana 1999, who became Miss Universe 1999. Miss Kwelagobe was the first person to represent Botswana at the Miss Universe pageant, and made history by becoming the first black African woman to win an international pageant.
The visit will see Miss Universe and Miss Angola, Leila Lopes been hosted by Samsung at a dinner at the plush Movenpick Hotel, Accra on Saturday and a Ball at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra on Sunday.
