Young African entrepreneurs of tomorrow are being given an opportunity to enhance their skills and make an impact on the African Diaspora at the The Afripreneurs of Tomorrow Scholarship Ball.

Event planning and decor company, Statuesque Events by Feyisola, is introducing its Signature Charity Initiative event to be held on Saturday 30 September 2011 in New York City, New York.

Sitting in the heart of New York, venue 320 Studios will play host to a fusion of African performers, professionals and community leaders to provide the evening’s entertainment.

The aim of the event is to raise money from ticket sales, donations and raffles which will fund scholarships to be awarded to two recipients on the night.

The scholarships will be awarded based on not only their evident active role in their communities, but also their essay responses, which will detail plans to use the positive impact of entrepreneurship on the African Diaspora in NYC.

The winners and a few lucky attendees can also expect to receive a copy of Nana Ekua Brew-Hammond’s novel Powder Necklace.

High school and college students have until Friday 9 September to apply for the scholarships which can be downloaded at

Based in the metro of New York, the company is known for planning a range of events from receptions to weddings, to birthday parties to corporate launches and prides itself on its integrity, grace, organization and charity initiative.

Statuesque Events by Feyisola founder, Feyisola Ogunfemi, decided to create the Afripreneurs of Tomorrow programme as a subsequent follow on to a similar event she hosted while serving as Miss Nigerian Independence 2009/10.

She said: “Event planning, community service and education have always been 3 things that I’ve held close to my heart.

“It’s just amazing and exciting that we’re able to incorporate all three of my passions and touch someone else through this initiative.”

In addition, some of the night’s proceeds will be used to fund a pilot vocational scholarship program with youth development organisation Lead Nigeria. This will give young adults who may have for one reason or another, not been able to complete their primary or secondary education. The scheme aims to give these people the tools and confidence to create their own local businesses, strengthening their entrepreneurial skills.
