Fashion Fantasia! is an initiative of Leading Ladies who have decided to stand up and fight breast and cervical cancer that has cruelly claimed lives of citizens. It is also a benefit fashion show that creates awareness on the disease. The show which will be hosting its second season this year also includes a fund-raising motive to support victims of the disease. And at the Oriental Hotel on Sunday, 25th November, 2012, the fight against this ailment will be given an even intense voice.
With support from Bloom Cancer Care, one of the event planners, Fashion Fantasia! intends for this night to be an evening of fashion, fun and inspiration as there will be a live presentation and an interactive session on the cancerous widespread. Exciting young designers like Wana Sambo, Tae, Isi Atagamen’s IAFL will be showcasing their designs in magnificent displays.
Interestingly, 300 women were screened for breast and cervical cancer free of charge at the maiden edition of the event last year on December at Four Points Hotel, Oniru. This year’s version is themed #EachOneCheckOne – encouraging the need for women (and men) to go for constant checks and get screened regularly.
Project Visionary Francesca Uriri spoke on the cause. “Cancer is on the rise globally, there is no more efficient way to fight it, than to prevent its spread. This is essentially why we’re using fashion as a platform to ensure that women realize just how important it is to get their monthly checks done. Early detection of any type of cancer helps increase the rate of survival; and this is one of the key things we hope to re-iterate with this event.”
The objective of this year’s programme is to raise funds for 500 women to receive free breast and cervical cancer screening and to financially assist 2 women who already have cancer and are unable to pay for their medication. So join the fight against breast and cervical cancer; effect positive change and be supportive.
