Lifetime Entertainment has released a re-created cover of the 1987 “Whitney” album featuring Yaya DaCosta, who has been cast in the biographical Whitney Houston movie scheduled for release in early 2015.
Yaya DaCosta is an actress and a former “America’s Next Top Model” star. She has also acted in many TV shows and movies including ‘The Butler,’ ‘Tron,’ ‘House M.D.,’ ‘Ugly Betty,’ and ‘Army Wives,’ a program that airs on the Lifetime network.
In this first released picture, Yaya strikes a pose similar to the cover of Whitney’s 1987 self-titled album. It looks promising to say the least — and also proof that the “I Will Always Love You” diva had a one-of-a-kind look that’s hard to recreate. Yaya told Entertainment Weekly that her modelling background was very useful during the shoot. She said, “I just looked at the picture and did the pose!”
The movie, directed by Houston’s “Waiting to Exhale” co-star, the award winning Angela Bassett, has just started filming.
