Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua well known by her stage name Seyi Shay is a United Kingdom based songwriter, producer and singer. Born to Nigerian parents and raised in Loondon began performing at the age of six before joining the London Community Gospel Choir which paved way for the young singer to perform and tour cities around the world with Japan inclusive as a teenager when she was 14 years old.
Miss Shay signed her first record deal with George Martin known to be the legendary producer of the Beatles which was a very big deal for the budding artist. She is a successful songwriter of globally celebrated tracks such as “You Will See” for former Spice Girl Mel C’s successful solo debut, “Beautiful Intentions”, “White Lies” off the latest Chipmunk album featuring Dirty Money, as well as other songs featured on Hed Kandi and African Twins compilation albums around the world.
You may find this hard to believe but Seyi Shay has toured with P. Diddy and Beyoncé in the UK and has written and worked with a number of industry heavy weights like Brian Michael Cox, Chipmunk, Rob Knoxx, H-Money, Cameron Wallace, Jolyn Skinner, Joshua Tree, and Joe & Brian Higgins.
In 2005, she joined a girl band in the UK called Boadicea managed by Ron Tom, who was also the founder and manager of the top selling UK female group ‘Sugababes’ and ‘All Saints’. After Boadicea split up in 2007, Seyi Shay has since moved on from then to become Nigeria’s most talked about female singer of recent time. Occasionally she is compared to Tiwa Savage but her seductive-rebel style of music delivery cannot be compared to Tiwa Savages’ genre of music.
