Every music video is not merely about the performance of an artist because if we think about it, those minutes of clips present the essence of every bi-molecule of beats and steps, created by the one of the most important roles in the pop and rock world – the choreographer. Can you think of any? Yes or no, no matter what, obligatorily, Frank Gatson is the name to be remembered.
For starters, he has been nominated for the Best Choreographer in MTV Video Music Awards which will take place in late August this year with Beyoncé’s Run the World (Girls). “Dancing Queen B” has Gatson and his team to thank for the wonderful mix of westerly African moves and danse du jour in her song which has so far attracted over 64 million hits on Youtube. Did I forget to mention he has won the same award six times already?
So who’s this guy really? Gatson is an A-list choreographer for working with numerous superstars whose names will impossibly escape your mind: Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Alexandra Burke …etc His portfolio seems never ending. In the beginning, his achievements tied in closely with EnVongue and Destiny’s Child, in recent years, Rihanna and Beyonce joined under his belt including many others: Usher’s “Love In This Club”, Ne-Yo’s “Sexy Love”
His colleagues described him as an “undeniable pedigree” who knows exactly what he wants. Some others referred the experience as an opportunity of a lifetime! “This guy’s worked with the biggest names!”
If not for music awards, these essential players of the industry would have forever been in the shadows. Therefore I say Frank Gatson and the rest of the creative team deserve every equal amount of credit and support that is given to the protagonist.
He is a true-blue step-up guru.
Also take a look at Gatson’s seemingly-never-ending portfolio, I quibbled with “where has he been all my life?”. Usher… His career spanned at least for 20 years,
