British fashion icon, Vivienne Westwood, has decided to unveil the story of her life in what will be for the first time ever, a biographical book written by the designer herself. The British fashion icon will be joined on the book with the contribution of renowned biographer, Ian Kelly.
Even though books have been written about Vivienne Westwood in the past, this is the first time that the fashion icon will be churning out her own story by herself.
A controversial figure in the fashion and political world, Vivienne gathered together 464 pages of wild and glamorous life, with friends like Naomi Campbell, Pamela AndersonandPrince Charles contributing anecdotes during the two years needed for the writing of the book.
The story begins with the opening of Vivienne Westwood’s first vintage clothing store with Malcolm McLaren, manager of Sex Pistols, on the King Road in 1970. Since then, with her unusual way of being, she created an empire, the British culture and history remaining her main inspiration font.
Her website states, “Vivienne Westwood is one of the icons of our age; fashion designer, activist, co-creator of punk, global brand and a grandmother; a true living legend. Vivienne Westwood by Vivienne Westwood and Ian Kelly tells her story for the first time in all its glamour and glory, with her unique voice, unexpected perspective and passionate honesty. For the first and only time, Vivienne Westwood has co-written and collaborated on a personal memoir and authorised biography: partly through her own voice, partly through contributions from her vast network of friends, family and associates. Based on two years with Vivienne, Ian Kelly has woven a unique narrative recording the inside story of a woman who has influenced millions.”
The book, already available for pre-order, has a cover design of Vivienne Westwood herself on the cover photographed by Jurgen Teller. The book is available to pre-order at www.viviennewestood.com, for $ 31.45.
This 464 page Hardback book will be released on October the 9th 2014.
