American singer and actress Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48, her publicist Kristen Foster has confirmed. While it has been reported that the singer died at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the cause and the location of her death were unclear, Ms Foster told the Associated Press news agency.
Once the reigning queen off pop during the ’80s and early ’90s, Houston’s later career was unfortunately blighted by drug abuse and her turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown.
Only two days ago the singer was spotted looking worse for wear in Hollywood, California after enjoying a party with friends. Wearing a short black dress the star emerged with her hair messed up and gestured aggressively to the waiting photographers, reportedly sporting what is believed to be blood dripping down her leg and scratches on her wrist as she was escorted from the club to her car by a few people
According to recent reports Houston was on the brink of bankruptcy as well as facing mortgage foreclosure sale of her $6million 10-acre New Jersey mansion for over $1million in overdue mortgage payments and taxes.
Regardless of her much publicised troubles and recent fall from grace, we will always remember her as amazing woman behind hits such as “I wanna Dance with Somebody” “I Will Always Love You” and “One Moment in Time” – the once golden girl of pop music.
