Seeing a lot of iconic models in the same place at the same time is no small feat and one that we were glad that Harper’s Bazaar could pull off as they celebrated their September 2014 “Icons” issue by Carine Roitfeld. The fashionable event was held at The Plaza Hotel on September 5, 2014 in New York City.
Several faces were spotted at the event including Alek Wek, Nicki Minaj, Kendall Jenner, Lady Gaga, Jason Wu, Jeremy Scott, Miguel, Laura Hutton, Alessandra Ambrosio Taylor Kinnley, Candice Swanepoel, Crystal Renn, Lily Aldridge and many more.
Crystal Renn: Crystal Renn had our favourite look for the night. Her look for the night was dramatic and a different approach for the red carpet. She rocked a gray satin Zac Posen gown with matching cape. To complete the dramatic look, we love Crystal’s bold brows, deep plum lips and pinned back retro-inspired hair.
Nicki Minaj: Nicki Minaj maintained her newly found (and loved) demure look and went with a burgundy Marc Jacobs dress accented with studded detailing and nude platform pumps. She went with sleek hair, bronzed eyes and cheeks for her beauty look.
Candice Swanepoel: South African Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel was cute in a metallic silver Kaufmanfranco gown styled with a brown belt and turquoise jewelry.
Alessandra Ambrosio: This look by model Alessandra Ambrosio is definitely Rihanna-inspired. She wore an intricately beaded and stitched black gown that showed off more of her body than necessary. We love her bright red lip and stunning emerald and diamond earrings to accessorize the dress.
Kendall Jenner: The new model on the block, Kendall Jenner, rocked a lovely ivory satin Octavio Carlin gown with a knotted sash and train detailing. A simple chignon, smokey eye and deep red lips are classic and elegant.
Lady Gaga: Pop star Lady Gaga was surprisingly chic in a sharply tailored Alexandre Vauthier Couture custom tuxedo-inspired black and white ensemble. She even turned down the antics on the hair and makeup as both were in tune with the sleek look.
Donatella Versace: What will an ‘icons’ party be without Donatella Versace? The fashion creative rocked a white Versace dress with a tiny cutout but it was her boots that knocked this look out of the park. She kept her beauty look dark with smokey eyes and her signature platinum blond hair.
Alek Wek: Supermodel Alek Wek was a surprise on the red carpet as we haven’t seen much of her lately. We wish she had gone with a lighter colour for her dress but the hands and neckline were definitely the best part about the dress.
