Afrobeat genius, Femi Kuti will be joining the panel of judges on the American Idol. The three-time Grammy award nnominee was deliberately selected because by the producers who are convinced that Femi will bring a whole new perspective on the show.

The music lover sees this as a big opportunity to ‘impart on the lives of the future of Nigerian music’ and is one he definitely can’t say ‘no’ to. He will be joining Jeffrey Daniels, (late Michael Jackson‘s personal choreographer) and soul diva, Yinka Davies. Doubts still arise as to whether or not Charly Boy will be returning to the show as a judge.

Femi Kuti whose international career debuted in 1988 when he performed at the Festival d’Angoulême in France is a strong voice and force in the Nigerian music industry. Femi (like many of his counterparts) has succeeded in not only taking African music beyond the shores of the continent but has contributed in making it so appealing that the world is gradually becoming to accept music from the African perspective.

He will also be performing at this yea’s Hip Hop World Awards, Headies which will take hold at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos on October 20th.
