The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) has been a reason for a lot of terrorism and attack. ISIS, (sometimes known as ISIL and later renamed simply Islamic State) is a Jihadist militant group in Iraq and Syria influenced by the Wahhabi movement.

While a lot of their actions have been done in the name of Islam and the Muslim beliefs, young British Muslims at Active Change Foundation have taken the time out to show their solidarity against ISIS and their actions with a movement tagged “Not In My Name”.

Since 2003 the Active Change Foundation (ACF) has been working to bring about real and effective change in the community and beyond to prevent the spread of violent street crime, gang related issues, community tensions & violent extremism in all its forms.

According to the Active Change Foundation, they are using a simple message to show how ISIS is misrepresenting Islam. They want to stand up as one community and one voice and not let the actions of a minority affect the majority. ACF states, Islam teaches peace, respect and love. ISIS is hiding behind a false Islam. It’s nothing to do with what we stand for. Tell ISIS that they can’t murder in your name.”

You can join the movement by tweeting why ISIS does not represent you with the hashtag #NotInMyName. #NotInMyName gives you the opportunity to denounce their violent actions in your own words. Let your voice be heard rejecting the ideology of hate.
