If you missed it, American filmmaker Woody Allen has again been accused by his Adopted daughter of sexually abusing her when she was 7 years old in 1992. The allegations first surfaced in 1993 but Woody Allen was never prosecuted. Over the weekend, Dylan Farrow adopted daughter of Woody Allen published a vivid open letter online and states her reason for resurrecting the issue is Hollywood’s continued admiration of a man she claimed abused her.
You can read up her open letter here.
On Sunday, 2 February 2014, Woody Allen released a statement denying the allegations. The statement released by Allen representative Leslee Dart said:
“Mr. Allen has read the article and found it untrue and disgraceful. He will be responding very soon. In the meantime, it is essential that your coverage make the following facts clear: At the time, a thorough investigation was conducted by court appointed independent experts. The experts concluded there was no credible evidence of molestation; that Dylan Farrow had an inability to distinguish between fantasy and reality; and that Dylan Farrow had likely been coached by her mother Mia Farrow. No charges were ever filed.”
Last month, as Allen was honored with a lifetime achievement award during the Golden Globes, Ronan Farrow, now estranged from his father, took to Twitter and referenced the allegation: “Missed the Woody Allen tribute — did they put the part where a woman publicly confirmed he molested her at age 7 before or after Annie Hall?”
A lot of people have come out to say that Dylan Farrow’s letter might not be too far from the truth seeing as he openly married his long time girlfriend Mia Farrow’s adopted daughter, Soon-Yi Previn. In the early-’90s, Farrow discovered pornographic pictures of Soon-Yi Previn, in Allen’s apartment. Shortly after 7-year-old Dylan, accused adopted father Allen of molesting her.
Following the Open letter, a lot of Hollywood celebrities have taken to twitter to express their thoughts including Woody Allen’s biological son, Ronan Farrow.
