Meet Akpe, the guy behind ‘Nigeria: Untold Story’; “I’m hoping people will start seeing Nigeria in a different light and from a positive point of view. Hopefully this will inspire other film makers to go out there and showcase more parts of Nigeria that hasn’t been seen so as to bring tourism to Nigeria.” says Akpe on why he made this short film.

Akpe Ododoru is a self taught, International video director/ cinematographer and photographer from Delta State nigeria. Renowned for his prestigious global clients such as Davidoff, Aston Martin, Hello Kitty, Google and Tesco which have established him as a leader within his sector, he has also worked with celebrities such as Isabel Dos Santos, daughter of Angola’s President and former wealthiest woman in Africa. He’s signature style is clean, colourful and cinematic, and is undoubtedly obvious in his latest masterpiece.

The idea stemmed from him simply being on holiday in Nigeria – when he decide to road trip the country and visit places neither him or his road trip companions had seen before. With his Phantom 2 Drone to hand and the never-ending opportunities of flying and filming that camera offers Akpe and his friends set off. Akpe says “I must say I discovered and learned so many new things about Nigeria I never knew before.”

“I titled this film ‘Nigeria: Untold Story’ as all of my non-Nigerian friends who saw the film stated, they didn’t expect to see such beautiful places in Nigeria” said Akpe. Nigeria tends to be portrayed as full of crime and constant drama, from Ebola to Boko Haram, no positive media highlighting the beauty of Nigeira and everything else it has to offer is ever at the forefront. He adds that, “I’m hoping people will start seeing Nigeria in a different light and from a positive point of view. Hopefully this will inspire other film makers to go out there and showcase more parts of Nigeria that haven’t been seen so as to bring tourism to Nigeria.”

Akpe is planning a second trip to Nigeira follwing the release and (so far) success of his first short film. “Nigeria is a beautiful country that consist of 36 states all different, big and lovely in their own way, with lots of cultures and traditions, its high time we show the world the real Nigeria and how beautiful this country is” he concluded.
