Emerging womenswear label Michael Shumaker brings us a vibrant Spring/Summer 2015 collection called ‘Stokes of Thought.’ A finalist of GTB Lagos Fashion and Design Weeks “Fashion Focus” category, the designer drew inspiration from the works, techniques, and ideology of two artists – Kenny Odilli, a Nigerian graphic artist, and Vincent Van Gogh, the renowned Dutch painter.
According to the creative director, Michael the collection is about his “fascination at how similar and at the same time how different both curators works, style and techniques were. Given that both artists represent entirely different times, regions and they had a completely different perspective to achieving incredible art.”
‘Stokes of Thought’ features a good blend of the artsy and the commercial with a mix of streetwear and high fashion garments in vibrant and subtle colour palettes, hand cut-out details and hand painted designs, following the techniques of the two artists.
