Day 3 at Mercedes Benz Johannesburg Fashion Week kicked off with Black Coal Clothing, Mosawamosa and Tashkaya.
Black Coal’s palette heavily featured mustard with matchy matchy tops and flat pumps merely playing second fiddle to the signature Black Coal essential: highly styled denim. Those who think denim as casual dress down, think again, as Black Coal brings pieces you can wear from the office to a poolside cocktail party. Our favourite piece? A two layered dress with mustard embroidery.
MosewaMosa’s latest collection ‘In Her Skin’ – which represented the metamorphosis of the label growing and settling into its own skin – also showcased a MosewaMosa woman comfortable in her own skin in romantic silhouettes, light fabrics and an unfussy colour palette which graduated from shades of white, ivory and champagne to more autumnal yet still ethereal and shimmery browns.
This collection is themed “In her skin“ and represents the metamorphosis of MosewaMosa which is growing and settling into its own skin. In turn, the brand is finding its own rhythm and truth in making sense of its surroundings. Hemlines were short in most cases, revealing more than just a hint of flesh, but done with class as it seems is the style of a woman comfortable and confident ‘in her skin.’
Tashkaya’s signature Boho vibe was ever prevalent in the label’s latest collection which featured a range of laid back shirt dresses and separates made up of short shorts, leggings, cropped trousers and loose-fit shirts and off the shoulder tops in cotton and light knits in colours ranging from neutral creams and beiges to monochrome to burnt orange and marble grey. With this latest collection, the label established by South African designer Natasha Janine Teplotsky got the confident sporty chic for contemporary women down to a t.
