The Teen Choice Awards 2014 was hosted over the weekend at The Shrine Auditorium on August 10, 2014 in Los Angeles, California and while the show itself was very entertaining, we could not take our mind off the red carpet and how these young celebrities made a statement with fashion.
The 2014 Teen Choice Awards was a big night and young stars like Zendaya Coleman, Ariana Grande, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner were joined by a few other older celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Jordin Sparks, Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, Hillary Duff and more as each of them showed off their personal style on the red carpet.
Keeping our eyes open, we noticed four major trends that stood out on the red carpet on Sunday, August 10 at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards and they are Matching Sets, Peekaboo/Cut Outs, Crop Tops and White.
To be fair crop tops and wearing white are two trends that have dominated the red carpet this year so it comes as no surprise that it is still being embraced on the red carpet.
Crop tops were noticeably seen on the younger crowd as they showed off toned stomachs in time for a warmer summer.
The all-white trend is an ageless trend and can be made to pop with bold shoes like Emily Osment did or can be toned down with nude shoes like Ariana Grande did.
Peekaboo/Cut-Outs was another trend that was seen on the red carpet and it was the perfect trend for the Teen Choice awards because it allowed the young fashionistas to show a little skin without going overboard. Cut-Outs can work for anyone as can be seen by the different people who embraced the trend; it works for the old and the young.
Noticeably, matching sets have been enveloping the fashion world lately with Beyoncé posting loads of matching outfits on her Instagram. This trend was embraced on the red carpet by the older crowd like Nina Dobrev, Taylor Swift and Jordin Sparks.
Which trend is your favourite and who do you think was the best dressed?
