Hey FAB Readers!

So, I’m graduating soon (by God’s grace) but you know the closer you get to the end of a course, there is that weird surge in work. So I’ve been thinking of what I might possibly do to my hair to save time.

Now despite popular conceptions afro hair is quite easy to maintain. But time is money! So here are the potential options…

I have been debating between kinky twists – to match my hair texture, and yarn braids.

Here are some kinky twists:

What I like about kinky twists is that you can do them with your hair or with kinky hairs extensions. From what I understand the downside to kinky twists is when you’re getting ready to take them out they can cause breakage because of how they twist with your own hair.

And yarn braids…

These I just recently found out about when watching Nigerian YouTuber, Yagazie Emezi. I’m leaning towards these because I’ve always wanted to experiment with locs. And hers look great! I’m kind of biased though because I like her style altogether. She is FABulous!

The Pros of Yarn Braids

  • They are light-weight
  • They are easy to put in (the same as extensions)
  • They resemble dreadlocs – if you’re into that look
  • They help retain moisture in your hair

The Cons of Yarn Braids

  • If you don’t dry them properly they will smell
  • You need to burn the ends or secure the ends with bands

In any case we’ll see what happens!

Hi Hon, I hope you decided on the yarn braids. I absolutely love them. I did them my self for the first time in as a senior in high school. Back then I came up with the idea on my own. 20 years later I am so inspired by all of these young women doing them. I too was inspired to do them again by how great Yaga’s came out. Check out my facebook to see mine. Facebook/Bijoux JouJou Congrats on your studies Wish you the best Love, JouJou
