Heart of Darkness is a fashion spread done by Harper’s Bazaar magazine. It was featured in the recent September issue, with model Daria Pleggenkuhle, and Photographed by Mark Segal.
The Spread was shot in Kenya, Africa. It shows a Fusion of Romantic Goth and African Adornment, with the clothes rich in exotic feathers, luxe (luxurious lace for those not in the know) lace and sleek leather.
The fusion is a pretty intriguing one because Goth elements are usually associated with a dark, nonconformist feeling, but the African background creates a vivid contrast. This provides a strong emphasis on the clothes. Its also questions your mind on ‘what is ideal’ because, the gothic style is not something usually associated with African style which is a far cry from the loud print and colours .
