The ‘King of Grime’, Skepta will return this Autumn with his new single “Hold On” taken from the forthcoming album due in Spring 2012 which has yet to be named. The Tottenham born and raised DJ producer and MC, otherwise known as Joseph Junior Adenuga has had a busy 2011 full of success, so far we’ve seen him; release his third studio album, Doin’It Again, complete a nationwide headline UK tour, play a number of European festivals (including Glastonbury) and be nominated for his 2nd BET award for ‘Best International Artist’. And as if that wasn’t enough, the star even performed with none other than P Diddy at his recent Wembley Arena show.
Skepta has played a key role in bringing grime forward into the mainstream masses, firmly placing tracks such as “Duppy” and “Too Many Men” on the playlist for popular nightclubs around the world. His ability to crossover and provide material for both the underground and commercial audiences has been
applauded and in his rise to the top of the musical game, he has helped to create tracks and provide lyrics for fellow peers such as Chipmunk, Tinchy Stryder and the ever popular N-Dubz, all whilst maintaining a key role in the collective Boy Better Know that includes his brother, JME.
The new track “Hold On” has an infectiously soulful yet grungy chorus with Skepta’s signature lyrical prowess over a dirty bass line. It has been described as arguably his most radio-friendly release to date as well as a dynamic club track with ‘huge anthemic potential.’
The “Hold On” video features cameo appearances from Olympic medallist Darren Campbell and UK actor Richie Campbell, (Anuvahood).
“Hold On” will be released on 28th November 2011 by 3 Beat/ All Around The World.
