Ivian Sarcos, a 21 year-old from Venezuela, was crowned the 61st Miss World at a ceremony that featured entertainment from the street dance group Diversity.The event which was held at the Earls Court in London was hosted by Jason Cook and Angela Chow. Miss Philippines and Miss Puerto Rico were the first and second runner up respectively. Women from 112 countries participated in the contest.
Contestants in the Top 15 were Miss England, Korea, Scotland, South Africa, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, United States Virgin Islands and Zimbabwe.
The Top seven countries are Scotland, South Africa, Puerto Rico, Philippines, Korea, Venezuela and England. They were all given an opportunity to tell the judges why they should become the next Miss World. Also, on the judging panel are Miss World 1953, Denise Perrier and Miss World 1954, Antigone Costanda.
Handing over Queen, Miss World 2010, Alexandria Mills had the honor of addressing the audience. She spoke about how being crowned Miss World has changed her life, as well as lives of people around the world.
The winner will spend a year visiting and supporting a range of global charity projects supported by Miss World’s Beauty With A Purpose programme.
Miss World 2012 pageant would be held at Inner Mongolia in China.
