The Thames Jubilee Diamond Pageant may be over, but the organisers of the UK’s Foremost Pageant that provides the ultimate platform for talented ladies of African & Caribbean heritage, who want to showcase their pride in their black heritage and prove that they were more than just a pretty face, have confirmed that their Pageantry celebrations have only just begun.

Jacqueline Wabara, founder & CEO of Miss Nubian Foundation, a London based social enterprise that provides free support service for talented culturally diverse artists, and organizers of Miss Nubian UK, stated in a recent interview on Voice of Africa Radio:

‘Over the last 2 decades, its clearly evident from the contents of both broadcast & print media, that society is increasingly  becoming  more and more obsessed with external beauty .This without a doubt  as resulted in a notably increase in the amount of  beauty  Pageants that are being organized. Despite the upsurge, few however have strived to be different, hence the notable apathy towards traditional beauty focused pageants.

Fortunately , Miss Nubian Pageants have been able to buck that trend and their finalist are renowned for their Talents ,levels of  intellect, ambassadorial / role model capabilities ,pride in their heritage  as well as their external beauty .As a visionary, I am pleased that  I decided to act upon the niche that I identified and create a Pageant for talented black ladies  ,as  our pageants have successfully redefined the concept and dispel the negative stereotypes associated with traditional Beauty Pageants.’

Now in their 4th year, Miss Nubian UK, are now looking for ladies aged 17 -30 who would like to represent their African or Caribbean Countries of Heritage in the Grand Finale. This will be one of the highlight events at the UK’s Biggest Celebration of Black Peoples achievements to date at Miss Nubian Foundation Annual Black History Extravaganza 2012 on Saturday 13th October in the prestigious PALACE SUITE, HILTON London Metropole.
