The world-famous musician, three time Grammy nominee, bandleader and activist Olufela Olufemi Anikulapo Kuti, is the eldest son of Africa’s legendary music genius – the late Fela Kuti. He recently turned 50 and celebrated his Golden Jubilee, amongst friends and loved ones.
A musician in his own right he has collaborated with the likes of Common, Mos Def, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Weird MC, Olu Maintain, D’Angelo, Macy Gray, Durella and many more, continuing to bring the genre of Afrobeats to new audiences.
The Afrobeats King marked his 50th birthday party, live at the New African Shrine, Lagos Nigeria. The night was filled with mind blowing performances that included Ara (Queen of Drums) – the 1st Female Talking Drummer, Seun Kuti – Fela Kuti’s Youngest son, who is the leader of Fela’s former band “Egypt 80”, as well as Femi Kuti himself and others.
There was also an exclusive interview where Femi talked about his father, his lifestyle, music, general beliefs, and things that may not have been heard before.
