We featured Zaki Ibrahim back in December with her track “Something in the Water” off her upcoming 2012 release Every Opposite. Now the South African songtress is back with an equally delightful song and accompanying video “The Do”.

On her brand new album Every Opposite – a concept album that draws on Zaki’s multi-dimensional talents as a narrator, performing artist, and choreographer – every song conveys both or all sides of a whole truth.

For Zaki Ibrahim, visuals must be as expressive as the music is. “The Do” is the story of a woman who has her idyllic existence shattered to pieces when one day her deferred ambition returns to haunt her. Nothing will appease the rage of her unrequited calling which now erupts with no regard for her once orderly reality. The video is as equally haunting as Ibrahim’s enchanting vocals.

Since opening the International Dance Music Awards at the Miami Winter Music Conference, Zaki has recently given guest performances with the UK’s Scratch DVA in London, in Sweden’s Hultsfred Festival, and Sonar Festival in Spain.
Catch Zaki Ibrahim live on the following dates:

Media Showcase at Trust Club, Berlin on June 23rd 2012
Canada Day celebrations at the Harboufront Centre, Toronto on July 1st 2012.

Every Opposite is out now in South Africa on Motif Records
